Bandwidth. Even the name sounds a little confusing, doesn’t it? So what is it, what does it do and do I really need it?
The short answer is: yes, you do. Bandwidth means ‘data transfer rate’--the amount of data that can transfer from servers to browsers in a certain amount of time and in this case, our servers to their browsers.
When you watch a video it is the bandwidth data that gets passed to the viewer. But it’s not just the videos that can be counted against your monthly bandwidth usage. There’s also the thumbnail image loading, the videos being played as your own internal views, and the actual videos being downloaded to the site, all contribute to your bandwidth usage.
